First, turn off the device. The primary and secondary circuits are closed and then drained. Simply unscrew the fittings to drain the heat exchanger. It may be useful to check the seals of the fittings. Grease them if necessary. If they are damaged, porous, pinched or worn, it is better to change them before restarting in the spring.
To prevent dust, insects or other critters from entering the device, the fittings must be put back in place without creating a seal.
